Comic Book Creation for Ages 12-15 (In Person)

Explore the expansive and diverse world of comic book stories and drawing styles while learning the fundamental aspects of comic book creation and design. Open to ages 12 to 15.

Course description

Create original characters and storylines and gain an introduction to the techniques, materials, and disciplines used to create professional comic art. Become familiar with basic comic art skills, including page layout, penciling, lettering, and inking, to create a comic from start to finish. / This class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays for two weeks, a total of 4 sessions.


Open to students ages 12 to 15. Students must meet the age requirement by August 1, 2026. Please review our complete Teen Policies as well as our General Policies prior to completing your registration.

This class meets in person on MCAD's Campus.

Required materials

Supplies for the first class

  • 14 x 17" or larger bristol board pad
  • three drawing pencils, 2B, B or HB (softer), H or 2H (harder)
  • two technical pens, .03 & .05
  • bottle of black India ink, 1oz
  • watercolor brush, round size 1 or 2
  • pencil sharpener
  • eraser
  • t-square, 18”
  • ruler, 12" or larger, cork-back preferred

Students should expect to spend up to approximately $45-$65 on supplies in addition to tuition.

What to wear
Clothes appropriate for messy creativity.
