Explore the kinds of creations that can come from combining collage and printmaking techniques through collagraphy. Open to students 16 and above. Course descriptionA variety of techniques and inexpensive materials can be used to produce complex, conceptual images using collagraphy. Create different types of printing plates, such as carving and manipulating matboard, printing from fabrics, constructing with acrylic media to create endless values and textures. Explore printing with newly created plates through relief or intaglio processes, a variety of printmaking inks and presses, mixing colors, creating layers, and printing an edition. Experiment with the collagraph plate as a surface for printing watercolor monoprints. / Students should have enough manual dexterity to cut, glue, collage, mix inks, etc. People without use of both hands may need special assistance in doing this work. / Materials fee of $29 and facilities fee of $52 included in tuition. This class has limited access to the Printshop. Students do not have access to the Printshop outside of class hours.
