Alchemical Notebooks: Journaling for Personal Transformation (Online) | Minneapolis College of Art and Design

Alchemical Notebooks: Journaling for Personal Transformation (Online)

Explore various modes of meditation, self-inquiry, automatic and experimental journal writing, to deepen or develop an artistic practice and better knowing of thyself.

Course description

What's the point of a journal? A book of days; a travelogue of dreams; an archive for the banal, the unexpected, and the mysterious; an index of pleasure and dissatisfaction; a bridge to the not-known. Using curiosity as a guide, meditation, introspection, and writing can be helpful tools in deepening self-understanding and enhancing creativity.
Be in community with other artists and use these reflective tools to further develop and enhance an artistic practice and hone one's craft. Course activities include readings, discussions, and in-class writing exercises. Students also engage in daily journaling and meditation practices to enhance in class activities. Come away from this class with newly developed methods of reflective journaling, specifically designed for artists.

Open to students ages 18 and above. Review complete policies, including class cancellation policies, before completing your registration.
