2D Collage and Assemblage Techniques (In Person)

Explore the art of collage through an examination of the medium’s history and an exploration of smaller scale collage techniques.

Course description

Experiment with different collage techniques like chine colle and decoupage while using found objects, fabric, and mark making tools. This course also explores collograph, which is an image printing technique that creates unique images and textures that become significant elements in collage work. / Materials fee of $6 included in course tuition.

Open to students ages 18 and above. Review complete policies, including class cancellation policies, before completing your registration.

Required materials

Supplies for first class

  • pen or pencil
  • notebook or sketchbook
  • photocopied images (for chine colle)
  • paper-based images (magazine, internet, newspaper, old books etc.)\
  • gel matte medium
  • scissors
  • watercolor paper
  • paints brushes
  • white glue
  • cloth fabrics (optional)

Students should expect to spend $30-40 on supplies in addition to course tuition.

What to wear
Clothes appropriate for messy creativity.
