Description Ophelie reflects on her course and project.“Spoonie Activism is a guide I made in April 2024 as my final project for the class of Design for Climate Justice, taught by Teresa Bertossi. In this guide, I summarized some activities conducive to climate justice and their theoretical cost in “spoons”, the invented unit of measure representing the energy of a chronically ill or disabled person on a given day. Accessibility helps everyone; the reasoning behind this format was to make activism more accessible, and that by lowering some of the barriers some may face, we could increase participation in climate justice activism from everyone. Education, predictability, and knowing what to expect are at the forefront of this project.”Intended audience: this project is meant to demonstrate the possibility that anyone can take action within their capacity. This guide was primarily designed for college students - actions in the guide can span multiple ages but in its current format, works best for ages 15 and up.If you’re interested in learning more about sustainable design, or our fully online MA in Sustainable Design program, please reach out to me.Dawn Keene, Director, MA in Sustainable Design Published on March 30, 2026
