June 02, 2025 The Minneapolis College of Art and Design is pleased to announce the welcoming of five new candidates to serve on the Board of Trustees; Christine Frisk, Carol Mack, Jenny McDowell, Tiffanea Mulder, and Bryan Pieper. Christine FriskA leader in the Twin Cities design community, Frisk is the principal of InUnison Design, an award-winning design studio, and co-founder of FUSE, a showroom in International Market Square that showcases furniture, textiles, lighting, wall treatments, and art from MCAD graduates. Frisk’s portfolio includes residential and commercial projects for clients in multi-family housing, education, hospitality, workplace, restaurant, retail, and other industries. The team’s work has been featured in Elle Magazine, House Beautiful, Lake Society Magazine, Minnesota Monthly, Midwest Home, MSP Magazine, Twin Cities Business, Green Builder, and many other publications. Guided by her belief that good design should be available to everyone, Frisk donates her time to Beacon Interfaith Housing, Norway House’s BARN initiative, mentoring students at the University of Minnesota, and creating connections between local artists and collectors. Frisk received her Bachelor of Science degree in design from the University of Minnesota, served as president of ASID, and is a member of Women Presidents’ Organization. For nearly twenty years, she has supported MCAD and its graduates. Carol Mack A Twin Cities community volunteer, Mack was president of the Parent Association at St. Paul Academy; a board member at a community mental health center; chair of the board of Coffee House Press, a nonprofit literary publishing house; and co-chair of the MCAD Auction Committee for the past two years. She is a needlework artist. Mack was raised in Baltimore by her mother, a proud graduate of the Maryland Institute of Art, who instilled a love of art and appreciation for the value of art education. Mack attended law school at the University of Maryland and was a labor and employment lawyer in Baltimore. She received her MBA at Columbia University in New York and worked at Bankers Trust Company in leverage buyout loan syndication. Jenny McDowell McDowell is the owner and founding partner of Public Works, LLC, a woman-led advertising agency. She has spent over three decades leading award-winning campaigns for iconic brands including Pebbles Cereal, Yoplait, Truvia, Scooby Doo, Five Star, Belvedere, and Minnesota Wild. A passionate entrepreneur and creative strategist, McDowell is committed to championing women in business and fostering inclusive leadership within her agency. She spearheaded the creation of The Firefly Sisterhood, a nonprofit supporting women with breast cancer. A lifelong student of dance, McDowell has a deep connection to the arts. She was instrumental in establishing the design discipline at Olson Advertising in the early 2000s, blending visual storytelling with brand strategy. Recognized with Effie’s, Obie’s, Emmy’s, AdFed Pins, and a Golden Halo Award, McDowell is dedicated to purpose-driven creativity and social impact. Tiffanea MulderA graduate of Howard University and the University of Minnesota Law School, Mulder is a collaborative, business-minded attorney with strong communication and analytical skills. Over the course of her career, she has held various business and legal roles at several Fortune 500 companies. Currently, Mulder serves as director counsel at Target Corporation, where she supports the technology organization by advising on commercial transactions, technology transactions, and emerging technologies.Mulder is passionate about service, holding several positions within various community organizations, including chair of the Strategic Planning Committee for Minnesota AIDS Project and contributor to revamping the mentorship program for Twin Cities Diversity in Practice. Since 2021, she has been a member of the MCAD Auction Committee and has co-chaired the Art Adventure Committee for her local elementary school since 2022. Bryan PieperWith over twenty years of design industry experience, Pieper is a champion of human-centered design that enhances the quality of life and brings joy to the user. Through his current role as vice president creative director at KNOCK, he creates a collaborative environment that allows both the individual and the team to thrive, grow, and be successful. Through his work with the internship program and mentorship in sports, he helps individuals grow personally and professionally and receive the guidance they deserve. Over his career, Pieper has worked with a range of clients from small entrepreneur start-ups to established brands, such as Target, Best Buy, New Balance, Levi’s, Amex, Cigna, and Nike. He has also worked with numerous nonprofits, including African American Leadership Forum, Northside Boxing, The Link, and Juxtaposition Arts. Pieper has been a member of the Walker Art Center’s Avant Garden Committee for over eight years.
