Rainbow Illustrates First Children's Book

Emiko Whitaker-Kawada ’09, professionally known as Emiko Rainbow, has illustrated her first children's book.

Nana and Abuela, written by Monica Rojas and published by the Minnesota Historical Society Press, will launch this March at Red Balloon Bookshop in St. Paul. Rainbow pulls from her own biracial heritage (Scandinavian / Japanese) to illustrate a biracial child's life with her grandmothers. With this release, Rainbow hopes to share authenticity and diversity with the community.
