He earned his PhD in art history from the University of California, Los Angeles and an MA in interdisciplinary humanities from the University of Chicago. His research and teaching specializations include contemporary art and critical theory, feminist and LBGTQ history and theory, and African art. His scholarly work and criticism has appeared in the CAA Art Journal.
