Kay Heino is an activist research-based artist. They create works using a vast array of methods from digital design, photography, bookmaking, painting, performance, and installation. Their work is centered around issues of pollution, justice system reform, and human rights. Through the idea of free for the public, Heino makes things that are meant to be seen by everyone, no matter where you live, where you work, what race you are, what gender you are, what religion you are, or even how much money you have. They don't want people to feel excluded from learning the lessons they are trying to teach or from the information they are trying to provide. Heino's work draws from collected data, history, and community insight which is presented in a way that people cannot ignore, through methods that are easily accessible and conducive to easy distribution.
