Tue, Feb 19, 2019, 1 –2 pm Auditorium 150 Visiting Artist Lecture Image Roman Verostko In conjunction with the retrospective exhibition Roman Verostko and the Cloud of Unknowing, Steve Dietz, founder, president, and co-artistic director of Northern Lights.mn, will moderate a panel discussion featuring MCAD Emeritus Professor Roman Verostko; Grant D. Taylor, professor of art history and chair of the Art and Visual Culture Department at Lebanon Valley College; and Christiane Paul, professor and associate dean in the School of Media Studies at The New School, adjunct curator of new media arts at the Whitney Museum of American Art, and director and chief curator at Sheila C. Johnson Design Center (SJDC) at Parsons School of Design. Verostko, who wrote his first algorithms in the late 1960s, is best known for his highly original code-driven pen and brush plotter drawings. Considered a pioneer in the field of digital arts, Verostko received a Distinguished Artist Award for Lifetime Achievement from ACM SIGGRAPH in 2009. Ten years later, Verostko is still making new work. This panel discussion has been generously supported by the Carl & Marilynn Thoma Art Foundation with additional funding by David E. Moore.
