I initially wanted to be an illustrator, but found my way into film and photography.Who was your favorite faculty member and why?David Nye Brown. Always thoughtful, probing the bigger questions in life and art. Describe your internship(s).I worked on the set of visiting artist Ericka Beckmann's film Cinderella Six, as did many of my classmates. Mike Kelley was also a visiting artist at this time. I learned much about teamwork, lighting, set design and making sound effects from scratch.Best thing you ever found on the free shelf?Art supplies and some amazing books.Did MCAD prepare you for life after graduation? In what way?Yes, I learned to think outside the box and how to bring creativity to any situation. Your biggest takeaway from MCAD?Art school is a great way to prepare for a life of creativity and exploration.What inspires you/your work?So many inspirations, I find new ones each day. The work of Charles and Ray Eames has been wonderful to explore. Also Christian Marclay, Brian Eno, James Turrell, Steve McQueen, Phylida Barlow.How do you network yourself and your art?By going to as many art openings and performances as I can. You'll always meet someone interesting.What was your experience living in the Twin Cities? Any hidden treasures?Great place to live, work and make art.
