Creative Leadership: Potential Careers

MCAD Career Development can help you find work and help employers find you. In addition to job listings, the staff is available to meet one-on-one with students and alumni to assist with career development. Environmental Protection Agency Deputy Director

Assists the Executive Director in developing and executing operations policies for the EPA. Reports directly to the Executive Director while supervising program managers and officers. Ensures compliance to annual budgets and assists in efforts related to the environment both at home and abroad. 

Organizational Change Facilitator or Manager

Co-creates, defines, communicates,  guides implementation, measures, and assesses change management strategies and plans. Works to build a culture that can embrace change and a network of employees committed to undertaking a change process in the interest of improving conditions and performance.

Cultural or Social Entrepreneur/Intrapreneur

Envisions and directs operations of a cultural organization or social enterprise with the goal of achieving financial sustainability alongside a range of benefits for society. Solves social problems or effects cultural change working as the founder of an organization or within an existing organization. 

Service Organization, Social Movement, or Network Leader

Convenes and inspires communities of practice and personal networks to articulate and advance shared goals and undertake necessary change in complex systems. Practices a form of leadership that is deeply collaborative and depends upon building a culture of trust and care. 

Creative Producer or Director

Within a particular field or discipline, manages teams of creatives to undertake multiple, complex and bespoke projects from start to completion; develops and communicates strategies; cultivates relationships and partnerships; engages investors and clients; and oversees communications and promotional strategies. 

Non-profit Executive Director

Oversees the administration, programs, and strategic planning of a non-profit organization. Communicates and collaborates with the Board of Directors, the staff, beneficiaries, and the community-at-large to ensure the organization meets its short-term goals and delivers on its mission over time.

Director-level Post at a B-Corp

Manages people and projects within an existing B-corp certified company aimed at protecting the environment, improving the community, or bettering the lives of others. Works to ensure that the company achieves the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability as it seeks to balance profit and purpose.

Community-Based Organization (CBO) (Co)-Leader

Oversees an organization of, by, and for a given community and designed to meet one or more of its needs. Engages in community outreach, grassroots organizing, public speaking, relationship-building with local businesses and associations, and advocacy work. 

Start-up CEO

Specializes in identifying a market need, envisioning and prototyping a product or service to meet that need, defining a strategy, recruiting a team, setting goals, monitoring progress, engaging and acquiring users, developing new business, communicating with stakeholders, and growing an organization.
