Print Production for Graphic Designers (In Person)

Discover the intricacies of what it takes to turn a design into printed materials and gain the skillset to do so.

Course description

The production of high-quality printed materials requires graphic designers to possess both a strong understanding of prepress requirements and advanced computer skills. Create print-ready files using Adobe Creative Suite applications, including Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. Work with the capture, transfer, manipulation, and delivery of images, as well as the production of print-ready electronic files, while learning key aspects of prepress such as color management, bleeds, image resolution, preflighting, proofing methods, and the use of RGB, CMYK, and Pantone color systems.

Visit an offset printing press to conduct press checks for their final projects and gain insight into the machinery and technological innovations shaping the printing industry. / Students will have access to Adobe Creative Cloud software throughout the course. / A materials fee of $115 is included in course tuition.

Open to students ages 18 and above. Review complete policies, including class cancellation policies, before completing your registration.

This course meets in person on MCAD’s campus.

Prerequisite

Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop. Basic design skills, basic understanding of the programs and the ability to make creative compositions.

This class uses Adobe Creative Cloud, Canvas, MCAD’s learning management system and Papercut, MCAD’s print management system. Please see the link for more information.
