Cyanotype, a photographic printing process that results in a cyan-blue print, is the perfect place to start an education in alternative (non-silver) photographic processes. Course descriptionLearn about the cyanotype process, one of the first photographic processes, originally developed in the 1840s. Learn to use sunlight and water to make brilliant blue and toned cyanotypes from objects, drawings, and transparencies. Cyanotype is a great way to add a painterly, expressive quality to photographs, or to combine them with other media. Create traditional photograms that document objects such as botanical specimens and add your own drawing or writing. This class will be of interest to both photographers looking to broaden their printing options, and print based artists looking to add a photographic element to their work. / Standard safety protocols regarding any chemicals will be followed. / Materials fee of $29 included in tuition.Open to students ages 18 and above.
