BIO

I currently live and work in Northfield, MN. Since earning an MFA in 2000, I have been actively creating and exhibiting my work in painting and printmaking. My work, curatorial and residency activities have been supported through receipt of a Jerome Travel and Study Grant, two Artist Initiative Grants and a Creative Individuals Grant from the MN State Arts Board. I recently created an online exhibition platform for emerging and mid-career artists and am actively curating exhibitions throughout 2023 into 2024. This Fall (2023-24) I will be teaching all levels of Painting at Hamline University in St. Paul.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY & MENTORSHIP

I enjoy working with students and helping them to discover their creative potentials. Being an artist is a learning process; as a student, it can be a very stressful time when developing autonomy in one's ideas and studio practices. Through mentorship, I can provide some perspective from my own experiences and practical knowledge that I have gained over the years. I aim to be a support for students, to foster enthusiasm for art and facilitate experimentation in process, materials and media.
