Watercolor Landscape Painting (in person)

Landscape painting is one of the most popular subjects for artists. Learn creative ways to transfer a landscape image to paper using different watercolor techniques. Ages 16+

Explore topics including perspective, space, color harmony, and atmospheric perspective while working with watercolor paints. The instructor provides demonstrations of how to address foreground, middle and background in a landscape painting, while also discussing ways to represent color and effective composition. Build watercolor skills and gain confidence and control of the medium. This class works from images of landscapes. / Materials fee of $6 included in tuition.

Open to students ages 16 and above. Review complete policies, including class cancellation policies, before completing your registration.

Prerequisites

Previous drawing experience is helpful, but not required. Watercolor Blast or another introductory watercolor class preferred, but not required.

Required materials

Supplies for the first class

  • pen or pencil
  • notebook or sketchbook
  • HB pencils
  • erasers (kneadable and/or pink pearl)
  • paper towels
  • container for watermasking tape
  • Xacto knife
  • watercolor paint brush Number 4 round and others
  • watercolor paint tubes (red, blue, yellow, plus colors of your choice)
  • watercolor pallet (the bigger, the better)
  • watercolor paper (22 x 30" 140lb)
  • ruler or straightedge
  • watercolor art masking fluid (optional).

Students should expect to spend approximately $100–$200 on supplies in addition to course tuition.

What to wear
Clothing appropriate for messy creativity.
