This class focuses on the process of how to work on a full 32 page children's picture book manuscript. Learn skills such as character design, storyboarding, developing concepts, sequencing, storytelling, pacing the visual story, and creating a complete dummy book. Learn about the publishing industry and how to enter this competitive field and navigate the business practices of working as a children's book illustrator. This class includes weekly homework assignments. / Students will have access to Adobe Creative Cloud software throughout the class. / No class on June 10. Open to students ages 18 and above. Class meeting details This online course is synchronous, meaning students will meet together online. Class meetings are conducted via Google Meet and include lectures, demonstrations, discussions, exercises, critiques, and time to ask questions and share resources. Prerequisites Introduction to Children’s Book Illustration or equivalent experience. Previous drawing and painting experience is helpful, but not required. Required materials Supplies pen or pencil notebook or sketchbook color media of your choice selection of drawing tools. Hardware A computer capable of running Adobe Creative Cloud software, with internet access, a camera, and microphone for class meetings and to capture and upload work; a scanner (optional).
