Introduction to Commercial Photography: Product and People (in person)

Experience a professional studio, gain insight into commercial photography, and learn the importance of controlling light. Gain an understanding of the basics of product and people photography for commercial purposes.

Learn the elements of planning, setting up, and the execution of producing commercial photographs and best practices for professional interactions with clients. The instructor uses the model of a professional photoshoot to cover subjects such as studio lighting (control and quality), set-up for specific topics (product and figure), post-production (light retouching and editing). Discover how both product and people photography require different approaches and techniques in order to create the highest quality images.

The class includes elements of learning about photo studio equipment, working with a crew on set, and is hands on and participatory. Students participate in the setting up, shooting, and tear down of a photography set. The objective of this course is to experience a professional photography studio with a focus on the process.
