Figure Drawing (in person) | Minneapolis College of Art and Design

Figure Drawing (in person)

Discover a personal means of depicting the figure with accuracy, sensitivity, and expression.

The act of drawing from the live human form can feel intimidating. The key to success lies in a sound understanding of the creative problem-solving process, in combination with an acknowledgment and recognition of one's own "creative DNA." To aid in these endeavors, engage in studio exercises and supplemental discussions, presentations, and readings about figurative art history. Apply findings from research done in the field of cognitive science to the strengthening of creative problem-solving skills. Through this rich approach, develop a personal means of depicting the human figure with accuracy, sensitivity, and expression. Initial studio time focuses on a series of brief exercises devised to develop observational skills and the ability to draw the figure proportionately in a limited amount of time. Successive sessions include longer poses, allowing for the consideration of topics such as composition, perspective, anatomy, intent, and the concept of the critique. / Materials fee of $95 included in tuition.
