Experimental Comic Art (online) | Minneapolis College of Art and Design

Experimental Comic Art (online)

Explore the diverse concepts, mediums, and formats of alternative comics creation and production.

Comic art traditionally tells a sequential story; design, drawings, and writing are put together in a specific order for the purpose of graphic storytelling. Artists are pushing the boundaries of traditional comics by questioning the structural characteristics of comic books and narration. In this class, students focus on exploring, experimenting and developing a personal method of creating and storytelling. Draw from other areas of artistic focus and apply a broad range of methods to break out of an established comfort zone. Students will create a series of small works that utilize non-traditional formats and mediums to communicate large narrative concepts in a comic format. / No class July 4.

Open to students ages 18 and above. Review complete policies, including class cancellation policies, before completing your registration.
