Art Educator Workshop: Character Design and Development (online)

Characters are essential to making a successful story. Take time to observe and discuss how creators establish characters in visual media, including film, animation, comics, and games.

Through lectures, discussion of character development examples, writing, reference and drawing exercises, and sharing of student work, develop and create a character portfolio featuring illustrations and written narrative elements. The course includes instructor-led demonstrations, as well as independent projects and work time to explore the techniques and concepts covered each day of class. At the end of the course, educators will be able to apply what they have learned to their curriculum. Class time is split between presentations, discussion and studio time.  / Each student will have access to Adobe Creative Cloud software throughout the workshop. / This class has a one-hour lunch break each day. / Graduate credit is available.

Open to students ages 18 and above. View complete policies before completing your registration.
