Describe the work you submitted for merits.

I submitted a lot of character-driven illustrations because drawing faces is my favorite! Big, exaggerated features with big personalities and emotions align with my practice.

Why did you decide to come to MCAD?

I decided to come to MCAD because they offered me the best financial option, but my expectations were completely exceeded once I got here. The neighborhood is such a fun place to live, and I have been very proud of the progress I've made in my illustrative career so far.

What are your plans for your senior year? And beyond?

I'm really looking forward to starting an internship (hopefully this summer) and carrying that experience into what I want to do after MCAD. I think I'd like to illustrate a set of original poems, perhaps create a chapbook. That would be a lovely project and accomplishment, but after school, I'd like to continue that avenue of literary illustration...Or illustrate for board game companies!

Favorite thing about college life (so far)?

I positively adore our MCAD community and my friends within MCAD so much. Everyone is very kind and supportive and encouraging, and the welcoming atmosphere hasn't let up since freshman year (if anything it may be intensified.)

What's the best thing you've gotten from MCAD's free shelf?

I got a nearly complete game of Scattergories, and that is just my favorite. Praise for whoever has great taste in board games.

Do you have a favorite piece you've made? Describe it!

My favorite piece is titled Our Poetry Book and it's a large-scale illustration of two characters growing closer in a relationship and healing through shared poetry. I felt so convicted in making this piece that, "Hey, maybe I do have a voice as an illustrator, and maybe I should share it."

Anything you're obsessed with at the moment?

The Avalanches, Betrayal at House on the Hill, Snotgirl, and my roommate's air fryer.
