Teen Maker Series for ages 12-18: Stop Motion Animation

Try your hand at building a short, quirky animated video frame by frame. Open to ages 12–18.

Course description

The Teen Maker Series offers single-session, three-hour workshops for teens ages 12–18, held one Friday evening each month.

Each session introduces a new art-making skill, giving students the opportunity to learn foundational techniques while experimenting, collaborating, and connecting with other young artists. Guided by professional instructors and supported with high-quality materials, these workshops offer a fun, accessible way to explore creativity, build confidence, and try something new.

In this session, use iPads and video editing software to create short animated films while exploring frame-by-frame animation techniques. Explore the history of animation, drawing inspiration from filmmaking and animation icons like Hayao Miyazaki, Lottie Reiniger, Tex Avery, Matt Groening, Tim Burton, and more.
