Course descriptionWork directly from observation at the University of Minnesota’s College of Biological Sciences Conservatory as well as from photographs and imagination to create translucent works using this versatile medium.Learn traditional and non-traditional approaches to watercolor painting, including how to layer colors, how to describe floral details, and execute washes and blends. Traditional techniques such as wet on wet, wet on dry, and dry brush are taught through demonstration. Students are also welcome to try experimental techniques all while spending time in an indoor tropical, magical, visual, and fragrant biosphere. Class time is spent on demonstrations, lectures, work time, and critiques. / A materials fee of $12 and facility fee of $46 are included in course tuition.Open to students ages 16 and above.
