BIO

Sishir Bommakanti is an illustrator, painter and animator from Minneapolis, MN. His work ranges from the surreal, mythological, absurd and experimental. Working in a range of mediums, from painting, drawing animation, 3D, interactive, photography and other experimental mediums.
His work is a commentary and reaction to the overload and burnout of a society that's been caught in a spiral of endless feed of information and noise. Using mythological characters and fantastical, surreal settings, he builds an entire new world to process and relay our age of informational overproduction.

TEACHING PHILOSOPHY MENTORSHIP

My teaching philosophy involves trial and error through iterations. I approach mentorships through giving a specific goal for students, but something broad enough that would challenge them to personally figure out the path themselves. Then take the opportunity for reflection and self criticism, streamline the experimentation until we get to a very efficient process that would benefit the students to define their own voice/ identity as artist. I also have enough industry experience to know how to plan logistics in both commercial and community projects. Providing resources for students to have a stronger experience in the world.
