McCann Participates in “Let’s Chalk Monticello 2025” With Immersive Street Art

As the streets of downtown Monticello prepare to burst with color during the 4th Annual Let’s Chalk Monticello, one artist is generating particular buzz: Shawn McCann ’02, a Minneapolis-based chalk artist known internationally for his bold, interactive creations.

McCann brings decades of experience across multiple disciplines—from children’s books to large-scale murals. His signature 2D and 3D chalk works, often blending realism with surreal whimsy, have graced streets from Los Angeles to Dubai. Most recently, he helped create a massive ceiling mural at Minnesota’s Largest Candy Store and was one of the few U.S. artists invited to the prestigious Dubai Canvas Festival.
