How/why did you choose your area of study?

Drawing has always been a safe space for me, especially with making my own worlds and scenes that I can get lost in. Also, in every piece I make, I keep my younger self in mind and think about what world would've made them feel safest and happiest. Coupled with these ideas and my love for color and composition, our illustration program was the perfect choice for me.

Describe the work you submitted for merits.

I submitted a lot of my favorite pieces from my past two years here at MCAD. I feel like they all demonstrate my strengths as an illustrator very well, especially when it comes to the color palettes, compositions, and ideation behind the pieces.

Why did you decide to come to MCAD?

I knew that MCAD had a strong illustration program and had great teachers in the department that I wanted a part in.

What's next for your practice? Anything you're really excited to make?

I'm planning on exploring character design and storytelling in these next two semesters here, since its always something I've loved to do but never got a good chance to try it out. Outside of that, I want to start selling my work in local stores and vend at more art markets and tabling events.

Favorite thing about college life (so far)?

The independence for sure. I love being able to make my own schedule and work whenever its best for me. I've also really enjoyed the illustration classes here and have been excited about almost every project and class I've had.

What inspires your creative self?

I'm often inspired by nature and my childhood.

What's the best thing you've found on the Free Shelf?

So many great pots and pans! Oh and really great reference books for collaging and flipping through!
