What made you choose to come to MCAD for your MA?

I was looking for a program that combined traditional graphic design foundations with modern web design and development. A lot of programs lean heavily one way or the other, but MCAD's curriculum felt like a great blend of both. That balance was exactly what I needed to grow into a more well-rounded designer.

Favorite thing about the program (so far)?

The people. Both the instructors and my classmates bring a level of thoughtfulness and generosity to feedback. Every critique feels like a real conversation, not just what works or doesn't, but why, and what else it could be. That kind of exchange has sparked ideas I wouldn't have arrived at on my own, and it has really helped my work.

Describe the work you submitted for merits.

My work reflects my effort to explore areas of design I wouldn't typically encounter in my day-to-day work as a product designer. Together, the projects show how the program has expanded my perspective from individual interfaces to thinking about products as complete, cohesive experiences.

Do you have a favorite piece you've made or project you've worked on? Describe it!

The Vinny's branding project from Typography has been my favorite so far. Branding isn't something I get to do in my current work, so this was a chance to build an entire visual identity from scratch and all rooted in a concept I personally connected with. Getting to take a project from napkin sketches to a full brand made for a really fun project.

What is the MCAD online learning experience like?

This was my first experience with online learning, and it's exceeded my expectations. The flexibility of being remote has allowed me to balance a full-time career with graduate coursework, which wouldn't have been possible otherwise.

What inspires you?

I'm inspired by craft in any form, whether it's hand-lettered signage, a well-built piece of furniture, or a perfectly timed animation. The care people put into making things well keeps me wanting to do the same.
