I mostly submitted photography, as I am a spring semester student and the work I’ve done with my foundation classes has largely been digital.Favorite thing about college life (so far)?I love all of it, especially my lovely friends and the other artists that go to MCAD. Minneapolis is a great city, and the school is close to a whole bunch of small businesses and restaurants which has been so convenient. Also, because of the size of the school, the web of artists and friends is much tighter knit than it would be at a larger college. I want to study every medium I can get my hands on, and am so excited for a ton of intro classes, but my absolute favorite is oil paint. I can't wait to be able to learn painting techniques in a studio setting! What inspires your creative self?Being able to show visual metaphors and symbolism straight onto a canvas is the most comfortable form of communication to me, especially because I mostly think in pictures. A big piece of advice in creative spaces is "show don't tell" when it comes to story telling, and I feel like through making paintings and photography,I'm able to "explain" feelings exactly how I mean them. What's the best thing you've found on the Free Shelf? So many cool, old magazines I used for making wall collages!
