Describe the work you submitted for merits.

My work submitted for the merits was my primary focus of my practice within the last two years and I continue to work on it today: oil paintings on stretched canvas as well as on wood panels.

I try to show the mundane and shots of our everyday moments. Recreating our life with the aspiration of capturing the essence and emotions of a person, place, or thing. We all have this pull to have an emotional relatability within our ever-growing isolating lives. My work helps soften this.

Why did you decide to come to MCAD?

I decided to come to MCAD due to the city. I wanted to get out of what was familiar to me and learn from a new community. MCAD seemed like a fantastic fit for my intentions with teaching as well as my painting practice.

What are your plans for your senior year? And beyond?

My plans for my senior year is to absorb any last information that can be supplied to me from MCAD, as well as further establish and define my practice. Before senior year I will be participating in a teaching internship which will hopefully prepare me to teach after school while maintaining a studio practice.
