Describe the work you submitted for merits.

Overall, I submitted three graphic posters, a diptych, three publications, and one identity pitch deck.

Why did you decide to come to MCAD?

MCAD seemed like the perfect fit for me as a comfortable midwest school with a great design program. I really enjoy the close-knit community that comes with it being a relatively small school. 

What's next for your practice? Anything you're really excited to make?

I'm currently taking Type Plus with Jan Jancourt and really looking forward to experimenting more with typography! I hope I am able to make more personal projects that explore visual communication within social spaces and how I can converse with strangers outside of a corporation to consumer relationship, as well as emphasize design to an audience that doesn't always notice its impact. 

Do you have a favorite piece you've made? Describe it!

I'd say my favorite piece that I exhibited was my Tactile Type publication I made this semester in Type Plus. I really enjoyed the research and curatorial process of compiling information and examples of experimental typography, as well as the design process of finding an effective yet interesting way to display the contents. In the end, it took the form of a 5x7" saddle stitch booklet that was then wire-bound to the 7x10" image section with a consistent layout system throughout. Being able to curate, design, problem-solve, print, and bind the book myself made it extremely rewarding to flip through the final publication!
