Top 10 Best Cities for Women in the Workforce

Minneapolis has been named the best city in America for working women in 2025, according to a new national study released by Elevate Leadership.

The report, which analyzed one-hundred of the most populous U.S. cities, gave Minneapolis an overall grade of A+, citing standout metrics including an 87% female labor force participation rate, strong representation of women in management roles (over 50%), and a low 2.3% unemployment rate for women. Median income for women in Minneapolis also surpasses those in many other metro areas.

Minneapolis topped the list by balancing economic opportunity and affordability. One-bedroom rent averages $1,267, and while childcare remains a national challenge, Minneapolis offers relatively manageable costs alongside high-quality-of-life factors like abundant green space, walkability, and a vibrant cultural scene.
