Explore various styles and techniques of drawing beginning with the fundamentals of art elements most notable in drawing such as line, value, shape and form. Ages 9–12 Gain experience with figure drawing, advanced color pencil and 3D drawing techniques. Students will be introduced to a sketchbook practices and habits to help students advance and explore as lifelong independent artists. Students will be inspired by artists such as Keith Haring and Jean Michel Basquiat and drawing styles of abstract, figure and pop art. The class also takes a field trip to visit the Minneapolis Institute of Art to practice observational drawing techniques. The course will end with a showcase of artwork for friends and family to admire. There is no class on Wednesday this week. Open to students ages 9-12.
