This class provides a fun and exciting path to understanding the basic concepts, techniques, and materials used in contemporary acrylic painting. Students are introduced to the formal elements of painting, such as composition, measuring, and color theory. In addition to studio work, students learn about various painting styles and histories through short lectures and a visit to the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Students are introduced to terms commonly used to discuss art and experience a group critique. / Material fee of $5 included in course tuition. Open to students ages 12-15.
