COVID Numbers on the Rise
Share:

Dear MCAD Community,

I am writing to inform you that while MCAD’s COVID numbers have been very low since the beginning of the pandemic, we have recently experienced an uptick in COVID-19 cases on our campus. Even though the pace of vaccinations has increased this is a moment where we cannot let our guard down. For that reason we need to work together to curtail any additional spread of COVID-19 within the MCAD community.

All community members must follow our current safety protocols:

  • Mask up.
  • Stay 6 feet apart from others.
  • Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Use hand sanitizer.
  • Cover up when you cough or sneeze.
  • Clean all high-touch areas in your workplace / residential spaces.
  • Allow no more than two student resident visitors in on-campus apartments with the permission of the roommate(s).
  • Follow room occupancy limits which are posted throughout campus.

If you have COVID symptoms, have tested positive for COVID, or have been identified as a close contact, you need to stay home and send an email to staysafestaff@mcad.edu for staff/faculty and staysafestudent@mcad.edu for students.

Mandatory COVID Testing

As early as next Wednesday April 7, we will begin mandatory COVID saliva testing for all resident students. Additionally we are insisting that anyone (staff, faculty, students) who is on the MCAD campus at least one day per week get tested as well. There is no cost to these tests. Please fill out this form to reserve your kit. They will be available in the Gallery. Test results (both positive and negative) must be sent to covidtest@mcad.edu. More information to follow.

Vaccinations

Availability: We are encouraged by greater availability of the vaccine both locally and nationally than in weeks past. We highly encourage everyone to sign up with the Minnesota Vaccine Connector to get vaccinated as soon as you can. (Vaccines are free and open for anyone in the U.S., irrespective of citizenship or health insurance provider, but subject to availability.) We have volunteered to be a vaccination site with the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH); as of yet, MDH is not using local colleges for these purposes. We’ll let you know if that changes.

Tracking: Once you are vaccinated, we like to know which community members have been protected against the virus. Please fill out COVID Vaccination Tracking Form. Your individual information will be used for our internal purposes only.

Timely action and communication allow us to protect the broader community. Again, your care for yourself and others is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your continued vigilance. I hope you stay healthy and strong.

My best to you all,

Sanjit
