Julie Reneé Benda is a printmaker, sculptor and storyteller.

Her work spans from satirical cartooning to public engagement, woodcarving, drawing, and illustration. Benda earned her BA in biological studies and fine art at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and her MFA at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. She is the recipient of the Minnesota Center of Book Arts’ Jerome Mentorship series, the Metro-Regional Art Councils’ Next Step Grant, and the Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative grant.

Her work has been featured in Hyperallergic, MakeMN Magazine, and she currently writes a tri-weekly cartoon column for McSweeney’s Internet Tendency. Benda currently resides in Minnesota and frequents her home state of Upper Michigan.
