Screenprinting by Hand

When making screenprints, sometimes the most fun and freeing thing is to get off the computer and get back to basics! This 4-week class will go over several analog methods of making both simple and complex screenprints. Students will draw designs, trace text, cut waxed paper stencils and rubylith masking film, and experiment with watercolor monotypes on a screen. The class will primarily focus on photoemulsion and darkroom methods, but students will also learn ways to screenprint at home without a darkroom. Students will come away with at least two completed projects and knowledge of how to print on both paper and fabric. And did we mention it will be fun? / No class March 28. / Materials fee of $25 and Facilities fee of $42 in addition to course tuition. / Open to students age 18 and above. / View complete policies.
