Posters and Prints: Low Tech Screenprinting

In this course, students will move away from computer based processes and learn to use low-tech, down and dirty screenprinting techniques that can be replicated at home with relatively little equipment. Specifically, the class will explore the possibilities of stencil printing, a simple masking process that allows for spontaneity and quick production; and drawing fluid, which can allow for intricate hand drawn line work, text, and textures. Students will be given ample time for creative play as they develop their ideas and will be directed towards completing an editioned poster or illustration by the end of the week. Throughout the class, students will refine their ideas, gain feedback from a visiting artist, and input from their peers through the process of critique. All are welcome, those interested in developing a portfolio piece for college applications are encouraged to enroll!
