Music History Pop-up Books

Pop-up books have become elaborate works of art. The books incorporate a variety of techniques in order to create an engaging 3-dimensional work; somewhere between a book and a sculpture. Students in this class will learn the mechanics of making pop-up books, along with ways to utilize techniques like origami, drawing, assemblage and more. The focus of the books will be on a musician or music group. Each student will have the opportunity to research their subject through exploration in MCAD's library. Students will leave with a unique, hand-created pop-up book showcasing their selected musician./ Materials fee of $10 in addition to class tuition. / Open to students ages 16 and above. / View complete policies.

Prerequisite: Previous drawing and/or painting experience helpful, but not required. Optional: Laptop and/or tablet with stylus if you choose to work digitally.

What to Bring: Pen or pencil; notebook or sketchbook. A complete list of suggested materials will be discussed during the first class meeting.

What to wear: Clothes appropriate for messy creativity.

If the minimum enrollment is not met by the deadline above, the class will be canceled on this date. Registration will remain open after this date if the minimum enrollment has been met.
