Let's Draw! (Exploring Drawing)

Where do artists get ideas and what do they draw? In this class, students will work in a studio environment, where they are encouraged to make choices, ask questions, and take ownership of their learning journey. Students will engage in a wide range of both guided and independent drawing activities exploring how to draw realistically, comics and characters, expressing emotion, and how artists come up with ideas. We will experiment with a variety of fun art materials, like graphite, pens, paint, and some unexpected ones to achieve some exciting results. A fun filled trip to the Minneapolis Institute of Art is planned to explore how different artists are inspired to create work. On Friday, friends and family are invited to an exhibition to celebrate the artists’ journeys, joys, and discoveries made during the week. / Open to students ages 6-9.
