Introduction to User Experience (UX) Design will focus on the process of creating designs that take into consideration the user’s needs along with content and a client’s wants in order to create a product that is successful. The instructor will lead discussions on the importance of preliminary research, testing during the process of developing a design, and how to test and analyze existing designs. Students will conduct testing sessions to help grasp the idea and simplicity of thinking about the end user first.

Class periods will include lecture, discussions, and studio time appropriate to the projects throughout the course. Examination of prototyping tools and testing methods will help the student get a better understanding of how UX is used in product development. The class will explore a variety of techniques and methodologies including wireframing, prototyping, card sorting, and a variety of testing methods. After taking this course, the student will be aware of how UX can be utilized in a variety of settings. What to Bring: Pen or pencil; notebook or sketchbook. A complete list of suggested materials will be discussed during the first class meeting.
