Title:
Introduction to Polymergravure
Instructor:
Price:
$202.00

Polymergravure is a non-toxic, faster, and environmentally friendlier alternative to the traditional copperplate photogravure process. Students will create a black-and-white etched image generated from a photographic transparency and printed on an etching press. Create prints that have the gravity and feel of a 19th century photogravure with the ease of 21st century printing technology! This introductory workshop will guide participants through each state of the process from the original image file to the final print. Techniques covered will include how to make the film positives using simple Adobe Photoshop techniques and an inkjet printer, how to expose and process the plates, and the various methods of inking, wiping, and pulling prints in the printshop. Participants will need to bring several high-resolution digital files of images (either from a digital camera or from a scan of film, 300dpi at print size, TIFF, or JPG) that are ready to be modified in Photoshop and printed as a transparency. / No class July 2. / Materials fee of $25 and facilities fee of $38 in addition to class tuition. / Open to students ages 18 and above. / View complete policies here.
