Introduction to Color Theory

This course is an introduction to color theory and application for teens interested in pursuing art or design in college or perhaps as a career. Students will gain an understanding of the elements of color through acrylic painting exercises, presentations, discussions, and a field trip to the Minneapolis Institute of Art. This course will include color mixing and identification; fundamental and experimental applications; color harmonies and schemes; as well as the emotional impact and illusionistic qualities of color. As a result of this class, students will learn how to effectively use color to create a bold impact and will have an opportunity to create additional artworks for their portfolios. / Open to students ages 15–18. MCAD strictly adheres to these age guidelines and is unable to allow exceptions. / View complete registration policies.
