Experimental Comic Art

Students in this class will explore the diverse concepts, mediums, and formats in mainstream and indie comics. Comic art traditionally tells a sequential story; design, drawings, and writing are put together in a specific order for the purpose of graphic storytelling. More and more, artists are pushing the boundaries of traditional comics by questioning the structural characteristics of comic books and narration. In this class, students will focus on exploring, experimenting and developing a personal method of creating and storytelling. Students will learn non-traditional methods to generate a small series of works, using different techniques to create zines, alternative types of comics, and other storytelling formats. / Open to students ages 12-15. MCAD strictly adheres to these age guidelines and is unable to allow exceptions. / View complete registration policies.
