Creative Pattern Design

Patterns are important elements of design and art. The ability to design beautiful and balanced patterns is a valuable addition to the skillset of any art and design practitioner, from fine artist to fashion or graphic designer. This studio class offers an opportunity to learn creative pattern design techniques, develop personal visual language and get to know how patterns are designed for different uses. Through observation and photography the students will discover motives and rhythms all around them and learn how to transform them into an up-to-date collection of repeating patterns. / This course will use traditional techniques (non-digital) /  This course will not be in a computer lab. / Materials fee of $5 in addition to course tuition. / Open to students age 16 and above. / View complete policies.

Prerequisite: Previous drawing and/or painting experience helpful, but not required.

What to Bring: Pen or pencil; notebook or sketchbook, Digital camera required, example include point-and-shoot, Digital SLR or smartphone camera.

If the minimum enrollment is not met by the deadline above, the class will be canceled on this date. Registration will remain open after this date if the minimum enrollment has been met.
