Comic Book Creation 1

Learn about the expansive and diverse world of comic book stories and drawing styles while learning the fundamental aspects of comic book creation and design. Students will create original characters and storylines and be introduced to the techniques, materials, and disciplines used to create professional comic art. Students will also learn the following skills: Page layout; penciling; lettering; and inking. / Open to students ages 12–15. Prerequisites: Previous drawing experience helpful, but not required.

What to bring: Pen or pencil; notebook or sketchbook. Pad bristol paper 14 x 17" two-ply plate/smooth; four 2H or H drawing pencils; kneaded eraser; white drafting eraser; cork-bottomed metal ruler, at least 17” two round brushes, sizes #1 and #3 (sable round or synthetic alternative); Speedball Cartooning Pen and Nib Project Set (includes pens and nibs); Pentel jumbo correction pen - fine point; Ames lettering guide; jar india ink black/noir waterproof; jar or plastic cup for water

What to wear: Clothes appropriate for messy creativity.
