Botanical Drawing

Students in this course will develop and refine their observational drawing practice through close examination and drawing of a variety of plant specimens. During five visits to the University of Minnesota's College of Biological Sciences Conservatory, the class will have the opportunity to create studies varying from timed observational contour drawings to fully formed experimentations. This course will provide an excellent opportunity for students to develop and enhance their ability to observe and study the details of a given object. In addition to observational drawing techniques, the instructor will introduce a variety of experimental drawing and painting techniques. Botanical drawing is a valuable way to refine a drawing practice, to learn to see with a more focused lens, and to use drawing as a way to explore and learn about the world around. / Materials fee of $45 in addition to course tuition. / Open to students ages 16 and above. / View complete policies.
