Adobe Photoshop: Getting Started

Through the hands-on use of Photoshop, students will learn the basics of the application: using the tool palette and menus, exploring floating panels and their options in relationship to each tool. Students will be introduced to the Paths, Channels, and Layers floating panels. Much of the work done in Photoshop will revolve around these features, and a fundamental understanding of these concepts are necessary for any user. The class will also explore retouching and color-correction, two tasks beginning users are always anxious to jump in and try. Here you will learn the tools and techniques to do these tasks quickly with a high degree of ease and precision. / Each student will have access throughout the class to a lab workstation equipped with the latest software or can use their own laptop with Photoshop version 2018 or later. / The class will have a one-hour lunch break each day. / Open to students ages 16 and above. / View complete policies.

Prerequisites: Working knowledge of Mac OS X.

What to bring: Pen or pencil, notebook or sketchbook, USB drive or cloud storage option for saving work.
