Explore the world of terrariums by design and create miniature gardens with fabric creatures and plants. Ages 6-9 Engage with a variety of fabrics and materials to construct and assemble terrariums utilizing hand sewing techniques and cardboard construction. Start by drawing and sketching as a brainstorming exercise and then move on to creating a pop-up book to go alongside the terrariums. For inspiration, students learn about different artists who use fabric and textile dying to create multilayered textures. At the end of the week, families and friends are invited to view the students’ work in a group exhibition. Open to students ages 6–9.
