Painting for Illustrators: Water-based Media (in person) | Minneapolis College of Art and Design

Painting for Illustrators: Water-based Media (in person)

In this course, students work through some of the more difficult aspects of painting with water-based media and learn skills and techniques used when applying them into illustration.

Water-based media is heavily used in contemporary illustration and design. Watercolor, ink, gouache, and acrylic can be challenging to those new to the media. Each of these media have their own distinct characteristics but also share some similarities. In this course, students work through some of the more difficult aspects of painting with water-based media and learn skills and techniques used when applying them into illustration. Weekly illustration assignments are given to provide time to practice and apply using techniques demonstrated in class. Sketching and ideation are also expected each week as part of developing concepts and compositions for assignments.

Open to students ages 18 and above. View complete policies.
